Dave Janssen has been teaching music lessons to students over 20 years. He has brought his experience together with other teachers to provide a complete music education. Students have the opportunity to learn any instrument in private or group settings and the ability to achieve all levels of playing from lesson application to stage performance.

In addition to being a music retail store, Dave Janssen’s offers Music Lessons for all instruments, styles, and ages, as well as band and glee programs.

Stage 1 Music

Stage 1 Music is a company created by musicians for musicians. They opened their music school in April 2010 and quickly started expanding into the two adjacent suites to create a first for Simi Valley–professional rehearsal studios–that opened March 2011.

Stage 1 offers individual lessons in Guitar, Voice, Piano, Drums, Bass, Banjo, Mandolin, Ukulele, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Violin and Viola.  They also offer group classes in Voice, Guitar and Piano as well as the Born to Rock music program, an 8 week session that brings together students with some proficiency in rock instruments and teaches them to play together and prepare for a final stage performance.  Their teachers are not just great players—they’re great teachers that can teach any style from rock to blues to funk. Stage 1 Music also offers rehearsal room, sound system, and equipment rental.

 

Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District

Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District is a separate government agency from the City of Simi Valley. It was formed in 1961 for the specific purpose of providing parks and recreation activities to our community. Since that time, the Park District has established 50 parks and preserved over 5,600 acres of open space that is now used for hiking, biking, horseback riding and wildlife preservation. Several hundred years of Simi Valley history has been preserved at the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, and docent lead tours are available. Railroad enthusiasts can tour a depot built in 1903 with historic exhibits and miniature train displays. The Park District also provides two equestrian centers, two swimming pools, two golf courses, and numerous sports and other recreation amenities. In addition to the many facilities available for public enjoyment, the Park District offers hundreds of diverse recreation programs and large community events such as concerts, arts and crafts fairs and outdoor movies.

Simi Valley Senior Center

The Senior Center provides a variety of entertainment, classes, and gallery showings to area seniors and the public. The Center partners with the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District to provide art and dance classes.

Simi Valley Public Library

The Simi Valley Public Library provides a number of free-of-charge educational and community events to the public. They often partner with the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, It’s a New Day, Actor’s Repertory Theatre of Simi, and the Simi Valley Art Association.
